The Wrath Altar is a runic altar upon which wrath runes are crafted from pure essence, providing 8 Runecraft experience per essence imbued. Level 95 Runecraft and completion of the quest Dragon Slayer II is required to craft wrath runes. Skeletons can be seen fighting each other across the chasm where the altar is.

Players may create a wrath tiara here by using either a wrath talisman or a tiara on the altar whilst having both in their inventory, granting 52.5 Runecraft experience. A catalytic tiara can also be created here by using a catalytic talisman and gold tiara, granting 42.5 Runecraft experience.

Knowledge of the Wrath Altar was lost sometime during the God Wars in the Third Age,[1] and was rediscovered sometime during the Runecrafting Crusades in the Fifth Age, as a result of the sheer wrath that the Fremennik crusaders, the Gunnites, had wrought upon the runic temples of the world.[2] Upon its rediscovery, a temple was built around it, but was shortly destroyed by the Gunnites upon completion.[3]

The Sect of Uhld, who witnessed its destruction, founded the Myths' Guild in response,[4] and upon studying the Wrath Altar, they were able to create surge spells and destroyed the Gunnites of the southern crusade.[5] Today, knowledge of the Wrath Altar is restricted to members of the guild, so much so that even Archmage Sedridor, the chief of research and leader of the Order of Wizards, considered it to be a myth.[6] However, members of the Zamorak Magical Institute appear to know of its existence.

Upon entering the Wrath Altar, the music track Cursed plays.

Location

As with most other runic altars, it can be accessed via the mysterious ruins found in the Myths' Guild; it cannot be accessed via the Abyss.

To reach the ruins, players must climb down the Mythic Statue, and run south through the Corsair Cove Dungeon to an exit leading to the island it is located on. This tunnel is inhabited by chromatic dragons, so some form of dragonfire protection is recommended.

To enter the mysterious ruins, players either have to use a wrath talisman on the ruins, or click "Enter" on the ruins while wearing a wrath tiara. Alternatively, a catalytic talisman or tiara can be used. <mapframe group="pins" align="center" text="The location of the mysterious ruins used to enter the Wrath Altar." plane="0" width="275" y="2826" x="2445" height="275" zoom="2" mapID="0">
