Item ID6018

Poison ivy berries are acquired through the Farming skill by picking from a player-grown poison ivy bush. The item is an ingredient in weapon poison (++), and can be used with a Compost Bin to make supercompost. Harvesting this item from the farming patch south of Ardougne is a requirement for the Hard Ardougne Diary.

Farmers require a payment of eight poison ivy berries to watch over your growing Calquat tree. Poison Ivy Bushes do not require any payment for protection because they do not get diseased.

According to the book Gielinor's flora - bushes, every part of a poison ivy bush contains toxins that can cause itchy, irritating and painful rashes that last for days. Symptoms include swelling, vomiting and fever, where victims have described the experience as feeling like your blood is boiling within you.

Farming

A poison ivy berry bush.

Poison ivy bushes grow in 2 hours and 40 minutes, yielding 674 experience points from checking plant health, and 45 experience per berry picked. Additionally, poison ivy bushes never become diseased, so using compost, supercompost, or ultracompost is unnecessary. There is generally a high demand for these berries, usually used as payment for protecting Calquat trees. Even though the berries can be used to make Weapon poison(++) at Herblore 82 Herblore, since one of its ingredients is not tradable, there is little demand to use the berries for training Herblore.

It is possible to use a garden pie to boost your Farming level by 3, in order to plant the poison ivy seed.

Further picking the berries will not require a specific Farming level. Once all berries are picked from the bush, it will produce more berries, approximately 1 per 20 minutes. One seed can produce a minimum of 4 berries, where the Farming level reduces the chance of using up one of the three "lives" of the patch, much like harvesting herb patches.
