Abyssal demons can be assigned as a slayer task at level 85 Slayer and level 85 combat by various Slayer masters. They are found in the Abyssal Area, the Slayer Tower, the Wilderness Slayer Cave, and the Catacombs of Kourend.
Abyssal demons attack with melee, but are capable of teleporting next to their target making safespots impossible. Whenever they teleport the player will stop attacking it, thus having Auto Retaliate on is useful. They can also teleport the player instead, however a teleport anchoring scroll can be used to become permanently impervious to being teleported by the demons. As they are demons, they are weak to demonbane weapons.
With level 90 Magic and completion of A Kingdom Divided (and Dragon Slayer II for Ironman accounts for a supply of wrath runes), abyssal demons can be a strong source of Prayer experience. By using Master Reanimation on all ensouled abyssal heads and Demonic Offering on all abyssal ashes, abyssal demon kills will be worth on average 307 Prayer experience - more than double their base Slayer experience. Unlike many other tasks with strong Prayer experience potential, the optimum Prayer experience from abyssal demons can be achieved without leaving the area.
Unless the player is assigned abyssal demons by Konar quo Maten or Krystilia, it is recommended to kill them at the Catacombs of Kourend, as it is a multicombat area, with two rooms to the north containing 9 demons (five north and four south), and another area with four demons near the main entrance. In the northern area, all nine demons can be lured to the middle of the two chambers, allowing players to easily burst/barrage or use a venator bow for significant experience gains, along with having access to the Catacombs drop table. Note that without a teleport anchoring scroll, the player could be teleported out and de-aggro some of the demons in the process, though this is not a major concern. The third chamber is primarily for melee users.
A quieter area is the Slayer Tower, though this area is a single-way combat area and thus requires moderate attention. The Abyssal Area is the last non-Wilderness area, and it is not recommended to kill demons here as they are very far spread and most spawns are near an aggressive abyssal walker. If the player does have to kill them here, the Abyssal Sire will count towards the task, though players not interested in the boss can use a spot just northwest from the fairy ring containing two demons and an abyssal guardian, which is tolerant if the player has a combat level of 109 or higher.
If slaying as part of a Wilderness task, the only location they can be found is the Wilderness Slayer Cave, another multicombat area. However, it is a very popular player killing spot, and the majority of the cave is above level 30 Wilderness. As with all other Wilderness content, players should not bring items they are not willing to lose.
While the Abyssal Sire can be killed in place of abyssal demons, it is only recommended for those seeking the abyssal orphan pet or filling its collection log, as it is an extremely slow boss that may require the use of supply accounts to sustain the player due to its numerous drops and being very far from a bank, even when accounting for the PoH method.

Notes
- With efficient bursting/barraging, abyssal demons are among the best Slayer xp in the game, making bracelets of slaughter preferable over a tormented bracelet to increase task length.
- It is recommended to use a staff or wand that can autocast Ancient Magicks. Kodai wand provides +15% magic damage bonus as well as infinite water runes and a chance to save runes, making it the most effective.
- Due to the low magic defence of abyssal demons, it is generally recommended to prioritize magic damage and prayer bonus, while magic attack bonus is less relevant.
- Dihn's bulwark's special attack in conjunction with the Lightbearer is the most efficient way to gain aggression. Alternatively, a shortbow, darts, knives or a blowpipe may be used.
- The bulwark's weight usually requires use of stamina potions or an explorer's ring to maintain run energy.
- Due to their unique teleport mechanic, it's preferable to mainly use Smoke Barrage/Burst instead of Ice Barrage/Burst to prevent the demons from teleporting out of the stack while frozen and being unable to move back in.
- Players can tag all the demons in one room, lure them to the tunnel to stack up, freeze them, and then tag and lure the demons from the other room into the tunnel. After this, Smoke spells are preferred to kill the whole group.
- Blood Barrage and Blood Burst have higher max hits than Smoke spells, making them stronger for barraging. However, this slight damage increase comes at a much higher rune cost, making Smoke spells often preferred.
- Alternatively, after reading a teleport anchoring scroll, abyssal demons can be efficiently killed with Ice spells: after stacking the demons up in the corridor, stand either east or west of the stack and start casting; as long as you continue to target one on the tile they were stacked on initially, the demons will be unable to teleport outside of the spell's radius.
- An extended antifire dose is used because the fastest path to abyssal demons involves running past aggressive iron dragons, whose fire breath attack can be dangerous without protection. Alternatively, a slightly longer path can be taken by going past the bloodvelds, nechryael and greater demons.
With the venator bow, ranging abyssal demons becomes a viable alternative to barraging them. While it is less efficient, it also requires much less effort as the bow will often tag new abyssal demons without the player's input. You may also optionally use the demonic offering spell in the Arceuus spellbook to gain a substantial amount of Prayer xp each task.
