The Nightmare staff is a staff that can be received as a drop from The Nightmare. Requiring level 72 Magic and 50 Hitpoints to wield, it can autocast offensive standard spells as well as Ancient Magicks.

Once belonging to the shamans of Ashihama, its true name has since been lost to the world, and is now associated with The Nightmare. It gives a 15% bonus in magic damage.

Players can attach three different orbs to the nightmare staff to give it differing effects; this increases the requirement to wield them to 82 Magic:

• The eldritch orb creates the eldritch nightmare staff
• The harmonised orb creates the harmonised nightmare staff
• The volatile orb creates the volatile nightmare staff

The upgraded staves are untradeable, but players can revert them to their tradeable components at any time.
