Superglass Make is a spell that instantly turns all sand and soda ash, seaweed, giant seaweed, or swamp weed in the player's inventory into molten glass, without the need for a furnace. Sand buckets are fully consumed, meaning empty buckets will not be returned to the player in the process.

The spell provides a variable bonus yield, netting the player on average 1.3 molten glass per pair of raw materials, or up to 1.6 molten glass if using giant seaweed. In addition to providing Magic experience, the spell provides 10 Crafting experience per bucket of sand used. As with all Lunar spells, the quest Lunar Diplomacy must be completed to cast it.

Use in skilling

With good timing and concentration, a player can expect to gain over 50,000 Crafting and 30,000 Magic experience per hour, although it is possible to gain over 95,000 Crafting and 62,000 Magic experience per hour with perfect clicks. A smoke battlestaff (or a tome of fire and staff of air) is recommended, as they provide unlimited fire and air runes and save inventory spaces. The following table shows the profit per cast using different staves and different ingredients:

  1. ^ Picking up excess molten glass from the floor

Casting superglass make with giant seaweed is a popular method among ironmen to gain crafting experience and materials as both buckets of sand and giant seaweed can be collected in large quantities relatively easily.

One method to more efficiently pick up molten glass dropped on the ground is to station yourself at the Ferox Enclave bank chest with a Looting Bag in your inventory. Although excess molten glass will not automatically go into the Looting Bag, any molten glass manually picked up will be placed into the bag until it is full. This will allow players to spend less time opening the bank repeatedly while picking up molten glass.

Uses - Comparing Molten Glass yield and XP

When using soda ash and buckets of sand with a furnace, the molten glass yield is 1.0 molten glass per soda ash and bucket of sand.

When using either soda ash or seaweed and buckets of sand with Superglass Make, the average molten glass yield is 1.3 molten glass per soda ash and bucket of sand.

When used on a fire, giant seaweed turns into six soda ash upon successfully cooking, rather than just one given by normal seaweed. You can however fail, resulting in only one soda ash. Note that Cooking gauntlets do not decrease the cooking fail chance, however the Hosidius Kitchen cooking range effect still applies.

When used in conjunction with the Superglass Make spell, giant seaweed similarly acts as six regular seaweed and gives 60 Crafting experience per seaweed when cast. The combination of 2 giant seaweed and 12 buckets of sand yields on average 1.45 molten glass per bucket of sand, while the combination of three giant seaweed and 18 buckets of sand yields an average of 1.6 glass per sand, although with the latter some of the glass will fall on the floor as it overflows from the inventory. If it is not picked up, it results in an average of 1.45 glass per sand. Not picking up the glass will result in a higher rate of production, at a higher cost of materials. Since both methods using three giant seaweed and 18 buckets result in both a higher yield and rate, the combination of 2 giant seaweed and 12 buckets of sand is not recommended.

The average Crafting experience per giant seaweed and rate of glass production varies:

  • For an average of 1.45 glass per sand (two giant seaweed and 12 buckets of sand), each giant seaweed equals 538.5 experience when making lantern lenses or 669 experience when making empty light orbs. Using this method can produce glass at a rate of approximately 10,000 per hour;
  • For an average of 1.45[1] glass per sand (three giant seaweed and 18 buckets of sand without picking up the excess), each giant seaweed equals 538.5 experience when making lantern lenses or 669 experience when making empty light orbs. Using this method can produce glass at a rate of approximately 15,000 per hour;
  • For an average of 1.6 glass per sand (three giant seaweed and 18 buckets of sand and picking up the excess), each giant seaweed equals 588 experience when making lantern lenses or 732 experience when making empty light orbs. Using this method can produce glass at a rate of approximately 13,500 per hour.

These numbers include the experience from casting Superglass Make.
