Dragon boots are melee footwear requiring 60 Defence to wear. Like most other dragon items, they are made of Orikalkum metal, and cannot be made using the Smithing skill.

Dragon boots offer the second-highest strength bonus of any boots in the game, while also offering some of the best defensive stats available for the feet slot. Coupled with their affordable price, they are popular among players for all melee combat purposes.

Upgrades

Dragon boots can be upgraded with a primordial crystal, obtained as a rare drop from Cerberus, to create a pair of primordial boots. Doing so requires level 60 Runecraft and Magic.

Players can also cosmetically upgrade their dragon boots with either a dragon boots ornament kit to create the gold-trimmed dragon boots (g), or a Bounty hunter ornament kit to create the dragon boots (cr) Both changes are reversible, returning the boots and ornament kit to the player.

Trivia

• During development of the God Wars Dungeon in Old School RuneScape, dragon boots were originally proposed to be created via a shard of dragon metal that would be used on rune boots to upgrade them, rather than be a direct drop as it was in its original iteration in 2007. As the resulting poll only received only 52.5% out of the 75% support required, it was made as a direct drop.
