Unbound JalTok-Jad was one of the monsters which could be found within TzHaar-Ket-Rak's Challenges during Trailblazer Reloaded League. After players had completed his sixth challenge, on top of unlocking his infinite challenge, a new League-only Challenge would be unlocked. It was a stronger version of JalTok-Jad, and similarly attacked in all three forms of combat where the player must use the appropriate protection prayers before the attack hit them.
On top of the Unbound JalTok-Jads encountered in this challenge, various monsters from The Inferno would appear in the arena that the player had to deal with all whilst being attacked by 6 of the Unbound JalTok-Jads. After the player defeated one of the Unbound JalTok-Jads, extra monsters from The Inferno would appear.
Similar to regular JalTok-Jad, 5 Yt-HurKots would appear and begin healing it when it reached half health.
Fight overview
During the beginning of the challenge, 4 Jal-MejRahs will spawn alongside the 6 Unbound JalTok-Jads and attempt to attack the player. Due to their effect of draining the player's run energy and stats and dealing rapid ranged damage, it is advisable to kill them before attempting to attack the Jads. Note that killing the inferno monsters during the challenge will leave small orange puddles on the ground where they died. If the player stands on these puddles, their Protection Prayers are disabled for a brief moment, leaving them vulnerable to the Jads' attacks.
Upon defeating one of the Unbound JalTok-Jads, 4 small 2x2-size Jal-ImKots will spawn. After a brief delay, they will begin to move and attempt to attack the player. Due to their ability to dig and re-appear next to the player after not attacking for roughly 20 seconds and due to their hard-hitting Melee attacks, it is highly advisable to kill the Jal-ImKots as soon as possible.
After defeating the 2nd Unbound JalTok-Jad, 4 Jal-Xils will spawn. After a brief delay, they will begin to attack the player. Due to their accurate and hard-hitting Ranged attacks, it is very important to kill the Jal-Xils as quickly as possible.
After defeating the 3rd Unbound JalTok-Jad, 4 more small 2x2-size Jal-ImKots will spawn. The delay between them spawning and attempting to attack the player is shorter than the first set of Jal-ImKots.
After defeating the 4th Unbound JalTok-Jad, 2 Jal-Xils and 2 Jal-Zeks will spawn. After the regular delay, they will begin to attack the player. Jal-Zeks have a very accurate Magic attack with a max hit of 70 so killing them before the 2 Jal-Xils should take priority. An alternative strategy is to have Protect from Magic activated on the ticks where the Unbound JalTok-Jads are not attacking, and focus on killing the Jal-Xils first. With some luck, the Jal-Zeks will be attacking on a 4-tick cycle, never at the same time as the Unbound JalTok-Jads. The chances of the attack cycles aligning in this way can be maximized by choosing two Unbound JalTok-Jads which together attack every 4 ticks (for instance, the northern and southwestern Jads) and killing the other four Unbound JalTok-Jads first.
After defeating the 5th Unbound JalTok-Jad, 4 more Jal-ImKots will spawn and the remaining Unbound JalTok-Jad will be healed fully. The remaining Jad will also have its Attack speed increased from 8 ticks to 4 ticks until it is defeated. During this phase, if the Unbound JalTok-Jad deals two magic attacks in a row, the second attack animation will not play. When the magic attack animation begins, the player should activate Protect from Magic as usual. If the animation is not interrupted by another attack animation 4 ticks later, the player should not switch prayers. The ranged attack is not affected by this issue.
After defeating the 6th and final Unbound JalTok-Jad, the challenge is complete and the player is rewarded with 7430 Tokkul and a Trailblazer reloaded bulwark ornament kit to change the appearance of Dinh's bulwark to Dinh's blazing bulwark. Note that since the ornament kit is otherwise available in the Leagues Reward Shop on the main game worlds, this challenge is the only way to acquire Dinh's blazing bulwark on a league world.
