A Zamorak brew is a potion made by using jangerberries on a torstol potion (unf), requiring 78 Herblore, yielding a Zamorak brew(3) and 175 Herblore experience. A dose of Zamorak brew provides a temporary skill boost to Attack equal to 2 + 20% of the player's base Attack level, rounded down, and Strength equal to 2 + 12% of the player's base Strength level, rounded down. It temporarily lowers Defence equal to 2 + 10% of the player's current Defence level, rounded down, and current Hitpoints by 12%, rounded down, though it will not lower a player's Hitpoints below the minimum of 1. Additionally, 10% of the player's current Prayer level is restored as Prayer points. When used in conjunction with a Saradomin brew, Attack and Defence will be boosted, Prayer and Health will be restored (possibly boosted by the brew), Ranged and Magic will be lowered.

Restore potions are frequently used with Zamorak brews to raise lowered Defence. A super strength potion will always boost Strength level higher than a Zamorak brew; however, the Zamorak brew's Attack boost is slightly better than a super attack potion. At levels 85, 86, 90-93, and 95-99, the Zamorak brew will give a boost of 2 levels more than a Super attack potion. You can also use a super strength potion or a dragon battleaxe special attack before you sip a dose to increase your Strength level to the max.

After Barbarian Herblore Training is completed, caviar can be added to a Zamorak brew(2) to produce a Zamorak mix. This requires 85 Herblore and provides 58 Herblore experience. A Zamorak mix has 2 doses, each of which heals 6 Hitpoints in addition to the usual Zamorak brew behavior.

Usage

A common use for Zamorak brews is when killing Corporeal Beast, where a dose can be used before fighting and the lowered stats restored with an ornate rejuvenation pool. The brews have a slightly bigger boost to Attack than super combat potions and are cheaper, making them a decent alternative. However, they are rare for general use due to the drawbacks.

Another use for Zamorak brews is to use it as a source of healing while pickpocketing. As it is a cheaper alternative to prayer potions, it can be used to refill your prayer points after activating Redemption.

Notes

Zamorak brews cannot be used with the Lunar spell Boost Potion Share.
