An antifire potion provides slight immunity to a dragon's breath. When used in conjunction with an anti-dragon shield or dragonfire shield, a single dose will provide complete immunity against dragonfire for 6 minutes. It can be made by a player with 69 Herblore by mixing clean lantadyme and then dragon scale dust in a vial of water, which grants 157.5 Herblore experience. It may only be used after starting Dragon Slayer I. Additionally, it can be upgraded to either an extended or super antifire by adding lava scale shards with 84 Herblore or crushed superior dragon bones with 92 Herblore, respectively.

Players will get a warning in their chatbox when the potion is about to wear off after approximately 5 minutes, 45 seconds: "Your antifire potion is about to expire." Then they will get another message when it has worn off, approximately 6 minutes in total: "Your antifire potion has expired." This allows you to keep track of how long you have until you have to drink again.

Protect from Magic, in conjunction with an antifire or extended antifire, may be used in place of an anti-dragon shield or dragonfire shield to grant complete immunity to close-range dragonfire attacks, such as those from chromatic dragons. Using Protect from Magic does not provide any dragonfire protection from the long-range dragonfire attacks of metal dragons, such as mithril or rune dragons, and an anti-dragon shield or dragonfire shield must be used for complete immunity.

It reduces damage from Cerberus' flame attack.[1]

Warning: Players should remember that an antifire potion alone will not fully protect them from dragonfire (players will get a message in their text box stating that they have been horribly burnt by the fire). The potion's protection is so slight that, when used alone, even a single dragon can cause extensive damage to the player from its breath. Only when the potion is combined with the anti-dragon shield or dragonfire shield will players be completely immune to dragonfire.

After Barbarian Herblore Training is completed, caviar can be added to an antifire potion(2) to produce an antifire mix. This requires 75 Herblore and provides 53 Herblore experience. An antifire mix has 2 doses, each of which heals 6 Hitpoints in addition to the usual antifire immunity.
