This article is about unobtainable items in general. For items seen in interfaces or animation, see Interface items.

Unobtainable items are items that exist within the game's code, but cannot ever be obtained by players via normal gameplay. These items are usually found by extracting information via the game's cache. Some of these items are found in game, but cannot be placed into the inventory.

These items, like all other items, have an ID number assigned to them.

Item IDs may change over certain updates, and may fill unused IDs that are considered null. Certain items used exclusively may be removed from the game and their item IDs relabeled as "Null", which are represented in the cache as pink skirts.

Never released

These items have never appeared in the game in any form. Usually, they are items leftover from content that was significantly altered or removed during development, making them useless.

Items with no ID were deleted from the game before the release of the RS2 Beta Item test on 3 March 2004.

818 Poisoned dart(p) A deadly throwing dart with a poisoned tip. Unknown - Appeared in the trading post search interface
972 Papyrus Used papyrus, it has squiggles all over it. Presumably intended to be obtained in Legends' Quest when mapping the Kharazi Jungle. As any papyrus used is automatically added to Radimus notes, this item is unobtainable.
1235 Poisoned dagger(p) The blade is covered with poison. Unknown - Appeared in the trading post search interface, as the same model as an Iron dagger (p)
1411 Farmer's fork A farmer's fork. Unknown
1413 Halberd A halberd. Unknown
1415 Warhammer A warhammer. Unknown
1417 Javelin A javelin. Unknown
1460 Soul talisman A mysterious power emanates from the talisman... The item was found in the cache in Old School RuneScape as ID number 1460 and 1461 (its noted form). It was removed entirely with the release of Great Kourend, leaving the current item ID of 1460 and 1461 as Null.
1465 Weapon poison For use on daggers and projectiles. An unobtainable version of Weapon poison that would have been displayed at the stall of the cut Weapon poison salesman in the Ranging Guild, similar to display tea.
N/A Combination scroll Combination to equipment room door. Used in the RuneScape 2 beta version of Death Plateau. In the release version, the equivalent is the Combination.
N/A Red pot Part of combination to open a door. Used in the RuneScape 2 beta version of Death Plateau. In the release version, it is replaced by the Stone ball.
N/A Blue pot Part of combination to open a door. Used in the RuneScape 2 beta version of Death Plateau. In the release version, it is replaced by the Stone ball.
N/A Yellow pot Part of combination to open a door. Used in the RuneScape 2 beta version of Death Plateau. In the release version, it is replaced by the Stone ball.

N/A Horse shoe An iron horse shoe, brings good luck. Used in the RuneScape 2 beta version of Death Plateau. In the release version, it is possibly replaced by the Spiked boots.
1867 Burnt pitta bread It's all burnt. As players can no longer burn pitta dough by the time they have the level required to cook it, it is impossible to obtain burnt pitta bread.
N/A Bowl of food It's a bowl of chopped food. Unknown – may either have been the result of adding a wrong ingredient to the kebab mix, or part of a scrapped feature where players could also have made regular kebabs using regular chopped meat as opposed to chopped ugthanki.
2203 Rock-climbing boots These boots were made for trolling. A joke item referencing a controversial update in Runescape. Released along with the Grand Exchange, it can only be searched through its search interface.
2829 Clue scroll (medium) Part of the world map, but where? An unused map clue that points to near the Ranging guild. It has never been obtainable by players.
3006 Firework A firework potion; this'll look pretty! Released alongside the Brimhaven Agility Arena, it was possibly meant to be made from either Toadflax or Snapdragon.
3550 Clue scroll (hard) Perhaps someone at the observatory can teach me to navigate? An unused coordinates clue that leads to the Desert west of Pollnivneach. It has never been obtainable by players.
4010 Monkey magic A small sample of monkey magic. Presumably an unfinished item cut from Monkey Madness I.
4018 Monkey wrench For wrenching monkeys I'd guess. Presumably an unfinished item cut from Monkey Madness I.
4238 Puddle of slime It's a puddle of slime. Was presumably intended for use during Ghosts Ahoy.
4572 Pages Missing pages! Two missing pages from Rolad's book collected in Between a Rock.... As the pages can only be combined when all three have been found, this item is unobtainable.
4595 Karidian disguise Makes my face itch. Was presumably intended for use during The Feud, but was replaced by the desert disguise. It can be found while searching the item on the Grand Exchange.
4602 Ugthanki dung Poor Camel, what have I fed you? Occasionally during The Feud, Ali the Camel will produce a green variant of the regular Ugthanki dung. However, players cannot pick it up, with the player stating "Aw man I'm not going near that - it's just far too stinky!"
4653 Fire Hot! Was presumably intended for use during Desert Treasure I. While on the ground, players have the option to study it.
4692 Gold leaf Very delicate thin pressed gold. Added alongside Icthlarin's Little Helper, thought to be related to Raetul
5356 Plant pot A plant pot filled with soil. An unobtainable plant pot containing supercompost.
5551 Soul tiara A tiara infused with the properties of the soul. The item was found in the cache in Old School RuneScape as ID number 5551 and 5552 (its noted form). It was removed entirely with the release of Great Kourend, leaving the current item ID of 5551 and 5552 as Null.
5552 Gear Used in machines and locks the rune over. Presumably intended for use in the Rogues' Den. Most likely, players would have to pick them up to use the Gear door, similar to Tiles.

6053 Spirit roots The roots of the Spirit tree. Originally an intended yield when removing spirit trees from spirit tree patches.
6084 Worn key This key has seen a lot of use (used in the Mourning's End Part I quest). A worn down version of the Tarnished key obtained in Mourning's Ends Part I.
6640 Red crystal A red crystal. Was presumably intended for use during Mourning's End Part II.
6678 File:Guam in a box?.png Guam in a box? 'Ingredients; Ground Guam and Ground Seaweed.' Well, I have the Guam Leaf... Unknown - an identical copy of Guam in a box.

6707 Null amulet A gift from Lord Null. A placeholder for the Camulet before it was released to players.
6717 Karamthulhu My pet sinister squid. It was originally intended to be able to keep a Karamthulhu from Rum Deal as a pet.
7226 Burnt chompy Overly crispy chompy. If players failed to roast a chompy, it would have resulted in this item instead of a ruined chompy.
7228 Cooked chompy Roasted chompy bird. Released alongside the iron spit, it was never made obtainable, but has appeared in the Grand Exchange interface.
7463 Cornflour A little heap of cornflour. When the Pot of cornflour was added for use in Sir Amik Varze's subquest of Recipe for Disaster, this item was presumably added to correspond with the potless flour.
7466 Cornflour It's cornflour. This version of cornflour is marked as specifically for use during Recipe for Disaster. It is tradeable, and listed on the Grand Exchange.
7519 Crab meat A smelly meat. Unknown - a copy of Crab meat that is usable by free players.
7750 Moonlight mead A foul smelling brew. Presumably intended to be obtainable from a Moonlight mead barrel in a Player-owned house, but scrapped before launch.
7804 Ancient mjolnir An Ancient Mjolnir. Was presumably intended as a reward for treasure hunting with the enchanted key. It was released alongside A Soul's Bane, as both the mjolnir and the anger weapons were leftover content from the enchanted key.
7938 Bob Bobbity bob! A placeholder for "Large essence" that was presumably intended to be added alongside Pure essence. The item has since been replaced with Dark essence fragments.
7974 Servant bell I wonder what happens when I ring it? Possibly would have been used in Player-owned houses to summon a Servant. It is identical to the Grail bell, which curiously appears in the Construction skill guide instead of the servant bell.
8022 Telekinetic grab (tablet) A tablet containing a magic spell. A magic tablet variant of Telekinetic Grab.
8796 Limestone brick A well carved limestone brick. Unknown - an identical copy of the Limestone brick added with Construction. It was deleted on 25 August 2016.
9106 Astral tiara A tiara infused with the properties of the heavens. Was presumably intended for use during Lunar Diplomacy.
9595 Hazelmere's book Looks magical... Has a "read" option that was intended to replay the cutscenes seen during The Eyes of Glouphrie, but this was cut for time before launch.
9596 File:A eyeglo null (unobtainable item).png A eyeglo null You should never see this! Unknown - presumably intended for use during The Eyes of Glouphrie. It has an identical appearance to the Stethoscope.
9605 File:A yellow circle.png Yellow circle A yellow circular crystalline disc. Although it is meant to be obtained from Oaknock's Exchanger for use in The Eyes of Glouphrie, due to the complex formula the machine uses this piece can never be obtained.
9716 Rock A chunk of rock. An unobtainable version of the rock from Elemental Workshop II.
10567 Thingy Mabob. Unknown – 7 identical sapphire amulets with these names filled slots 10567-10580. As one has since been replaced with a Healer icon, they may have been related in some way to Barbarian Assault.
10829 Documents To Ali Morrisane of Al Kharid[sic] Unknown – possibly intended for use during The Fremennik Isles.
10950 Skull staples Five skull staples. Unknown - despite sharing a name with the Skull staple from The Great Brain Robbery, it was not released until weeks after the quest and strangely has the same appearance as Plunder from Cabin Fever.
11164 Restored shield Complete Shield of Arrav. The two halves of the Shield of Arrav combined, it can only be seen on display and is never obtainable.
11165 Phoenix crossbow Former property of the Phoenix Gang. An unused version of the Phoenix crossbow that was added with the rework of Shield of Arrav.

11169 Newspaper A collection of written news on paper! An identical, but unused version of the Newspaper bought from Benny in Varrock square.
11427 Fish vial This vial is half-filled with mashed fish, yuck. Presumably another concoction made via Barbarian Herblore. Most likely, players would added Roe or Caviar to a vial of water first, then adding the secondary ingredient to create a Barbarian potion.
11428 Fish vial This vial is filled with mashed fish, yuck. The full version of the fish vial.
11525 Wimpy feather More fluff than feather. Unknown – it was added on 9 July 2007, when feathers from Hunter were updated, yet it is not obtainable, likely was intended to be released with the As a First Resort quest, launched on 29 January 2008.
11691 Body rune Used for curse spells. Although intended for use in Barbarian Assault, the Attacker item machine does not give out this rune.
11693 Nature rune Used for alchemy spells. Although intended for use in Barbarian Assault, the Attacker item machine does not give out this rune.
11695 Law rune Used for teleport spells. Although intended for use in Barbarian Assault, the Attacker item machine does not give out this rune.
11696 Cosmic rune Used for enchant spells. Although intended for use in Barbarian Assault, the Attacker item machine does not give out this rune.
11698 Soul rune Used for high level curse spells. Although intended for use in Barbarian Assault, the Attacker item machine does not give out this rune.
11699 Astral rune Used for Lunar spells. Although intended for use in Barbarian Assault, the Attacker item machine does not give out this rune.
12161 Puzzle box (elite) I need to solve this! This puzzle box would have been given to players when solving an Elite cryptic clue - however, none of these clues currently give out a puzzle box.
13248 Key master's key Nobody knows what this is for. Presumably intended for use in Cerberus' Lair.
19567 Combat scarred key A key to a door in a maze beneath Ape Atoll. Presumably intended to be used during Monkey Madness II, like the combat damaged key.
20582 Adamant gloves A pair of nice gloves. An item intended for use in Last Man Standing that was never made available to players.
20585 Amulet of power An enchanted diamond amulet of power. An item intended for use in Last Man Standing that was never made available to players.
21524 Clue scroll (elite) If only I could decipher this... An unused anagram clue that would have directed players to "CIRR JAD", i.e. Jardric on Fossil Island. For unknown reasons, this clue is not obtainable.
21826 Redundant hat Never used. Unknown – a version of the ancestral hat probably meant to be used in the 2017 Deadman tournament.
21829 Redundant top Never used. Unknown – a version of the ancestral robe top probably meant to be used in the 2017 Deadman tournament.
21832 Redundant leggings Never used. Unknown – a version of the ancestral robe bottom probably meant to be used in the 2017 Deadman tournament.
23605 Imbued zamorak cape A cape from the almighty god Zamorak, imbued with great power. While it was intended that all three god capes would be usable in Last Man Standing, only the imbued guthix cape is available to players.

23839 Vial An empty vial shaped by crystals deep within the Gauntlet. Although intended to be crafted within The Corrupted Gauntlet, players who do so will receive the standard vial instead.
24859 Warrior path starter kit A crate that contains an asortment of items.[sic] Similar to the Combat path starter kit, it would presumably give some melee items to new players.

25040 Trailblazer trophy A Trailblazer trophy. Initially intended to be available as a reward for top 100 players at the end of Trailblazer League, the item was withdrawn on 2 September 2020 before the release of Trailblazer League on 28 October 2020.
25106 Extradimensional bag It seems larger on the inside than it is on the outside. Intended for use in the Trailblazer League, the item was scrapped due to some severe bugs found with it late in development.

25280 Essence pack A pack containing 100 pure essence. A pack of pure essence that would have been purchased with coins.
25535 Essence pack A pack containing 100 pure essence. Intended to be a possible reward from Shooting Stars, but never passed a poll only receiving 73.4% support of the 75% required. A separate version was created as the developer was unaware that the original unused essence pack existed.
26981 Lion helm Verac the Defiled's helm. Originally created as part of a special art stream, an unfinished version of the Lion helm was accidentally added alongside Beneath Cursed Sands. It reused the appearance, options, and examine of Verac's helm.
30302 Torva full helm An ancient warrior's full helm. The original appearance of the Torva full helm prior to a graphical update on 3 August 2023. The old models were re-added to the game following community feedback to allow for use by third-party client RuneLite and its plugins, providing an override to the current in-game appearance.

Discontinued before 2007

These items could previously be obtained during RuneScape 2. However, the method of obtaining them was removed before 2007, and as a result they have never been available to players in Old School RuneScape.

520 Rune axe head It's missing a handle. Used in the discontinued axe head random event.
690 Broken glass Watch those feet! A version of Broken glass that could originally be found in soil at the Digsite. At an unknown date, this was changed to give regular Broken glass instead. It could possibly be obtained from searching crates.
712 Cup of tea A refreshing cuppa. A discontinued item originally named Display tea that could only be telegrabbed from the tea stall in RuneScape Classic. Prior to the release of Old School RuneScape, it was replaced by a regular cup of tea.
758 Phoenix hq key The key to get into the Phoenix Gang HQ (Used in the Shield of Arrav quest). In the very early days of RuneScape Classic, a second key was needed to enter the Phoenix Gang HQ. This was removed in an update to the quest c. May 2001.
758 Sleeping bag Not as comfy as a bed but better than nothing. Originally used during RuneScape Classic as part of the fatigue system. Although originally carried over to RuneScape 2 beta, they were scrapped when fatigue was replaced by random events.
1848 Shantay disclaimer Very important information. Was given to players when passing through the Shantay Pass, but removed in a hidden update in July 2007 and replaced by the Doomsayer. It was a disclaimer, saying that no responsibility is taken if the player dies in the desert.
1946 Flour A little heap of flour. Previously dropped by Black knights, but was removed from their drop table after an unknown date. It was originally added in Runescape Classic.
4558 Blue sweets Not likely to last until next Halloween. Used during the 2005 Halloween event. As this event was never brought back for Old School RuneScape, the item is unobtainable.
4559 Deep blue sweets Not likely to last until next Halloween. Used during the 2005 Halloween event. As this event was never brought back for Old School RuneScape, the item is unobtainable.
4560 White sweets Not likely to last until next Halloween. Used during the 2005 Halloween event. As this event was never brought back for Old School RuneScape, the item is unobtainable.

4614 Broken plate Alas... Spinning plates used to have a chance of being dropped when the player spun it, thus turning into a broken plate. After complaints they were hotfixed on release day to no longer break. They continued to have a chance to drop but without turning broken until around 2012, when measurements were taken by Jagex to crack down on player to player gambling.
6189 Hex edit detected Your IP has been logged and passed to Customer Support. The items that appear in the Quiz Master and Certer random events. They would also be given to players who were detected using illegal hacking software.
6208 Man speak amulet It's an Amulet of Manspeak. It makes vague grunting noises. An item used in an older version of the Evil Bob's Island random event. Originally, the player had to take the amulet from a chest in order to speak to the servants upon arrival to ScapeRune. It was removed from Old School RuneScape sometime between March 2015 and January 2016, leaving the current item ID of 6208 as Null.
6743 Dragon axe head It's missing a handle. Used in the discontinued axe head random event.
7774 Reward token Yellow reward token exchanged at Burgh de Rott. Previously obtained when completing the Temple Trekking minigame. On 13 March 2007 Burgh de Rott ramble was added, and the tokens were replaced with new Reward tokens giving improved rewards.
7775 Reward token Red reward token exchanged at Burgh de Rott. The red version of the original Temple Trekking rewards.
7776 Reward token Blue reward token exchanged at Burgh de Rott. The blue version of the original Temple Trekking rewards.
7952 Axe handle Useless without the head. The handle of a dragon axe previously used in the discontinued axe head random event.

Discontinued after 2013

These items were once obtainable in Old School RuneScape, but were later made discontinued. Players who had one of these items at the time of its discontinuation are able to keep them, but players are no longer able to (re)obtain these items.

2996 Agility arena ticket I can exchange these for further experience or items. 27 July 2004 8 May 2024 The original Agility arena tickets were obtained from the Brimhaven Agility Arena, and could be exchanged with Pirate Jackie the Fruit for Agility experience or items at the Brimhaven Agility Arena Ticket Exchange. The tickets were discontinued following a Project Rebalance update which separated the ticket into new Agility arena tickets, which could be exchanged for experience, and Brimhaven vouchers, which could be exchanged for items, both at the new Agility Arena Store. The original tickets still exist for players to trade in at the old store, or exchange for the new tickets and vouchers.
5073 Bird nest It's a bird's nest with some seeds in it. 6 June 2005 10 January 2019 The original version of seed nests found while chopping trees. Many new seeds were added with the release of the Kebos Lowlands in 2019. Birds nests obtained before this retain access to the original drop table however, and are discontinued.
5606 Makeover voucher I can exchange this for one free makeover with the makeover mage. 27 June 2005 9 November 2022 This was previously given to players upon completion of Recruitment Drive. Male players had to change gender to complete one of the quest's puzzles, and this voucher allowed them to change back for free. This puzzle was removed in 2022, but the vouchers remained for any players who had not used them.

9662 Useless key A useless key. 24 May 2018 13 June 2019 After the release of A Taste of Hope and the Shortcut key was removed, if players didn't have the Shortcut key but had a bank placeholder for it, that placeholder was replaced with this.
11848 Rancid turkey It's gone manky. 5 December 2013 5 December 2013 Any Cooked turkey obtained during the 2013 Thanksgiving event was replaced with this discontinued item when the event had ended. It cannot be stored in the bank.
12010 Soft clay pack A pack containing 100 pieces of soft clay. 24 April 2014 9 April 2015 Soft clay packs were originally tradeable, and could be sold to Prospector Percy to quickly obtain golden nuggets. As this was an unintended feature, they were made untradeable in 2015. Any noted version of the soft clay pack was changed into this unique discontinued variant, which is stackable.

The item was made untradeable and all noted versions were turned into this item, which can be converted into a dragon hasta(kp).
26247 Pumpkin pie The best pumpkin pie in Gielinor 20 October 2021 24/25 October 2021 The pumpkin pie from the 2021 Halloween event could originally be traded on the Grand Exchange due to an oversight. This was removed in a hotfix, and the pie was removed out of the inventories of players once the event had ended, however, any uncollected Grand Exchange offers remained, meaning this discontinued item remains in the game.
29098 Not meat Don't eat this. 20 March 2024 20 March 2024 Not meat dropped from sabre-toothed kebbits and was tradeable on the Grand Exchange for about an hour after the update that day. After a hotfix on the same day, the item was removed out of players' inventories, however, similar to the pumpkin pie, any uncollected Grand Exchange offers remained.

4178 Abyssal whip A weapon from the abyss. Appears during the cutscene in My Arm's Big Adventure where Burntmeat cooks the Adventurer, in case players were ever able to obtain the Adventurer's items via glitches.

4838 Cup of tea Looks like an innocent cup of tea. Located on a set of drawers in Sithik Ints' room in the guest house north of the Wizards' Guild, it cannot be obtained. If players try to take his cup of tea, he will shout at them to stop. Telekinetic Grab will also not work to pick up the cup of tea, and Sithik will call the player a "telegrabbing fiend".
6561 Ahab's beer Looks nice. Located on a table in the The Rusty Anchor pub, it cannot be obtained, even through telegrabbing. When the "take" option is selected, Ahab yells at the player, Oi! Leave me beer alone!. When a telegrab is attempted, Ahab says, Oi! Don't be casting spells on me beer!.
6796 Lamp Ooh a nice shiny lamp. Appears in the Genie's lair during Spirits of the Elid; the Genie will stop the player from picking it up.
6820 Relic There seems to be bits missing... Dropped on the ground during a cutscene in Devious Minds.
6888 Guardian statue The statue looks like he can be moved. Used in the Telekinetic Grab mazes of the Mage Training Arena, but cannot be placed in the inventory.
6964 Coins Lovely money. Appears during the cutscene in My Arm's Big Adventure where Burntmeat cooks the Adventurer, in case players were ever able to obtain the Adventurer's items via glitches.

7147 Cannon balls Some cannon balls. An item that appears in Cabin Fever, it is technically unobtainable as upon being taken the player is given a different item called Cannon ball instead.
7155 Rope A coil of rope. An unobtainable pile of rope from Cabin Fever that is designed to serve as an infinite source of rope during the quest.
7156 Tinderbox Useful for lighting a fire. An unobtainable tinderbox from Cabin Fever that is designed to serve as an infinite source of tinderboxes during the quest.
7957 White apron A white apron. This item can be found hanging on a hook in Gerrant's Fishy Business. When taking this item, a regular white apron is given to the player, and this item disappears temporarily. The hanging apron cannot be obtained, and Telekinetic Grab cannot be cast on it.
8858 18lb shot Just landed 18lb shot. Lands on the ground after the player launches a shot put. The referee stops the player from picking it up.

10511 Zanaris choir The choir of Zanaris, obviously. The Zanaris choir were technically a pet, although they could not be picked up. However this mechanism prevented players from having other pets at the same time as the choir; they were changed to a normal NPC in September 2018 and the item was deleted from the game.
11044 Rotten barrel Looks like it might still float... An unobtainable version of the Rotten barrels from Olaf's Quest. It provides an infinite spawn of the barrels but cannot be picked up itself.

20782 Bandos godsword A brutally heavy sword. An untradeable Bandos godsword that features throughout the 2016 Halloween event, in case players were ever able to obtain the sword via glitches.
21060 Bandos godsword A brutally heavy sword. The fake godsword was brought back by popular demand when the event was re-released as the Misthalin Mystery quest.
22092 Dragon key An ancient key. A fake version of the Dragon key that is dropped by a Dragonkin during a cutscene in Dragon Slayer II, to prevent players from obtaining the key here and skipping half the quest.
23489 Wine of zamorak An evil wine for an evil god. A version of Wine of zamorak that has a much faster respawn rate than the standard version, which can be seen in the Deep Wilderness Dungeon. Casting telekinetic grab on it will give the normal wine instead.
25321 Gnome child Not something you'd typically carry around. The item version of the Gnome Child from the 20th Anniversary event, who functioned as a pet.

26594 Grubfoot Follower obj[sic] Grubfoot following the player during Land of the Goblins technically functions as a pet, with this item existing for debug purposes.
26595 Zanik Follower obj[sic] A version of the follower Zanik that appears during Land of the Goblins.
26921 Big bucket of frozen camel milk It's a big ol' bucket, full of frozen camel milk. Appears during a cutscene in the 2022 Easter event where Phoebe Kay freezes the big bucket of camel milk. It can never actually be obtained by players.

These items were originally unobtainable for a variety of reasons; however following subsequent updates they have since become obtainable by players. This does not include items from various unrestricted worlds, Leagues, or the Ancient and Torva armour from the God Wars Dungeon which some players were able to obtain early.

4565 Basket of eggs Hand them out to spread the Easter happiness. Originally a temporary item only used during the 2005 Easter event, it was converted into a full holiday reward with the 2014 Easter event and renamed to "Easter basket".
5549 Blood tiara A tiara infused with the properties of blood. Initially intended to be used when crafting Blood runes, it was deleted from the game files with the release of the Kourend's Blood Altar. It was made obtainable on 23 March 2022 as a reward from Guardians of the Rift.
7250 Clue scroll (hard) A clue! A riddle clue that leads to drawers in Jimmy Dazzler's house. Although added in 2006, it was not obtainable by players until 16 February 2022.

21768 Jewellery of jubilation A page torn from 'Kharedst's Memoirs'. Released alongside Kharedst's memoirs in 2017, this page could not be obtained by players until The Forsaken Tower on 10 January 2019.

22422 Elixir of everlasting An ancient scroll about herblore. The scroll was added alongside A Taste of Hope in 2018. However Mod West had not finished writing the scroll's text, and it did not become obtainable until the release of Sins of the Father on 4 June 2020.
22428 Old key An old key (Used to open a chest upstairs in Slepe church). It could originally be seen in a room north of Kroy's laboratory in 2018. However it was behind a locked door, which did not become accessible until the release of Sins of the Father.
24361 Scroll box (beginner) Contains a beginner clue scroll. Scroll boxes were first added for use in Leagues. However since no beginner clue steps take place in Great Kourend, beginner boxes were not obtainable until the Trailblazer League in 2020.
25244 Old key The key was added with the Soul Wars beta in 2020. It did not become obtainable until the Isle of Souls was made accessible on 3 February 2021, when it was renamed to "Dark key".
26942 Message A strange message. The message from Beneath Cursed Sands was accidentally added to the game early with a system update on 22 April 2022. It became obtainable with the quest's release on 27 April.

Gnome Restaurant

These items all previously could be obtained during the Gnome Restaurant minigame. Originally, players had to add each ingredient individually, which was a painstaking process and would produce Odd food if a mistake was made at any point. On 7 August 2006 the minigame was reworked, with the majority of ingredients now being added at once via a new interface. As a result, these items have never been obtainable in Old School RuneScape.

Joke items

Other items could never be made into banknotes to begin with, yet nevertheless an ID slot was taken up by a null item where the noted form would have been. In 2005, these empty slots were filled by items with humorous names and descriptions that all bizarrely had the appearance of a Pink skirt. Players who attempted to either spawn or view the items using illegal hacking software would be given a Hex edit detected instead. In Runescape, these items would later become viewable in the Quick Chat interface causing much confusion.

While originating as filler items for redundant ID slots, some were repurposed to serve new ends: as metadata could still be assigned to the item, the pink skirts could be read by others scripts as a sort of look-up table.[1]
