Infernal Mages are Slayer monsters that require 45 Slayer to kill. They are sometimes hunted for their frequent drops of death runes and their rare dark mystic boots and hat drops. Players who plan on fighting them should be wary of their accurate magic attack.

To reach the Infernal Mage area in the 1^st floor^[UK]2^nd floor^[US] of the Slayer Tower, players can take the long way up the south-east stairs. Players with 60 Slayer and 61 Agility can use the shortcut, but should wear a Nose peg to avoid the draining effect of the aggressive Aberrant spectres. Players below 60 Slayer could run past, but should bring a restore potion.

Strengths and weaknesses

Infernal Mages use a weaker version of the spell Fire Blast to attack the player, so it is recommended to wear dragonhide or magic armour, which will reduce their chance to hit. Wearing Void Knight armour is a good option because of its high magic defence. The Protect from Magic prayer is recommended for lower levels, as these mages can hit often. Prayer flicking is an effective strategy to minimise their damage output. Due to their focus on using magic, they are weak to both melee and ranged attacks. They cannot be safespotted, but it is possible to safely hit-and-run them with ranged (with or without long-ranged depending on the weapon used), or by luring a mage into the south-eastern corridor and then hiding in the south-eastern most alcove of the tower.

• They appear to be casting Fire Blast, however their max hit suggests they are actually casting Fire Strike.
