The crystal halberd is a degradable two-handed weapon made from a crystal weapon seed. It requires completion of the Hard Western Provinces Diary to wield, as well as 70 Attack, 35 Strength and 50 Agility. A new crystal halberd starts with 2,500 charges.
In order to obtain a crystal halberd, one must talk to Islwyn who will offer to sell a crystal halberd for 750,000 coins. Alternatively, one can take a crystal weapon seed to Ilfeen to be recharged into a crystal halberd with 2500 charges starting at a price of 750,000 coins, lowering by 150,000 each time afterwards eventually reaching a recharge price of 150,000 coins.
With access to Prifddinas and completion of the Hard Western Provinces Diary, the singing bowl can be used with 78 Crafting and Smithing and 40 crystal shards to turn a crystal weapon seed into a crystal halberd. Players without the stat requirements can speak to Conwenna or Reese and have them create the crystal halberd for you for 20 additional crystal shards.
The crystal halberd is significantly more powerful than a dragon halberd, making it a good choice as a melee safespot weapon.
The crystal halberd can deal full damage to the Corporeal Beast, despite not being a spear, but it must be on the stab attack style.
The crystal halberd is used for its special attack, which can deal high damage against large enemies or groups of enemies. However, its special attack is bested in DPS by the special attacks of both the dragon dagger and dragon claws against most monsters, making its use largely centered around last-hitting and AoE damage.

Special attack
The crystal halberd shares the same special attack as the dragon halberd, consuming 30% of the player's special attack energy. In addition to a 10% damage boost, if used against "large" monsters (anything that is larger than 1x1, such as General Graardor), the special attack will deal an additional second hit onto them, although with 25% reduced accuracy. It can also hit 10 NPCs in a multi-combat area in a 3x1 area centred on the main target (unless it used on an NPC larger than 1x1, in which case it will hit the target twice and ignore the rest of the NPCs). In PvP, it can only hit three players.
The crystal halberd's special attack's accuracy rolls against the opponent's slash defence.[1] When using gear with the highest strength bonus and a Slayer helmet or black mask on task, the highest possible hit with the special attack is 78–78 (total of 156) on large monsters. While this is higher than what dragon claws and dragon dagger can achieve, the much slower attack speed of the halberd is a major downside, so the claws and dagger generally lead to faster damage output in combat.
The crystal halberd's special attack can still be particularly useful in certain situations. Anywhere that players have a forced amount of downtime (time where it is impossible to continue attacking), a crystal halberd special attack can be substituted for extra damage without incurring the 7-tick penalty. This is a common tactic against the Pestilent Bloat; due to his long period of time where you have to run away, players typically use a crystal halberd special attack as their last damaging attack before running away to increase their potential damage cap. In a similar manner, it is often used when the opponent is on low health and the special attack is likely to finish them faster than using standard weapons (a strategy known as "last-hitting").
Although halberds are the only weapon category alongside spears to ignore the damage reduction on the Corporeal Beast, the crystal halberd has limited use on it; as the special attack rolls against the opponent's slash defence, which is particularly high on the Corporeal Beast, it is very inaccurate against it (typically to the point where dragon claws are more effective despite the damage reduction) unless its Defence level is severely reduced.
The special attack's ability to hit up to ten enemies can prove useful as well; when on a Slayer task where stacking enemies up in one pile to cast multi-combat spells is efficient, such as smoke devils, the crystal halberd can deal a large amount of additional damage, often twice that of an Ice Barrage. It is often used for this purpose in efficient Barbarian Assault teams by the attacker.

Degradation
The crystal halberd degrades over time, in which it reverts into a crystal weapon seed and must be recharged before it can be used again.
Ilfeen will recharge crystal weapon seeds into crystal bows, crystal shields or crystal halberds. She can be found teleporting back and forth between two clearings in Isafdar, or after completion of the Song of the Elves quest, she can be found south of the Prifddinas house portal.
Initially, Ilfeen charges 750,000 coins to re-enchant a crystal seed into a crystal halberd. However, the price is decreased by 150,000 coins each time Ilfeen re-enchants a seed for a player, in the following manner, until reaching the minimum recharge cost of 150,000 coins:
Enchantment | Cost for re-enchantment | Cost per charge |
---|---|---|
First | 750,000 | 300 |
Second | 600,000 | 240 |
Third | 450,000 | 180 |
Fourth | 300,000 | 120 |
Fifth and thereafter | 150,000 | 60 |
The amount that Ilfeen charges is dependent on the number of crystal seeds she has re-enchanted, not the number of crystal halberds she has recharged. For example, a player who pays Ilfeen 900,000 coins to re-enchant a crystal seed into a crystal bow will only have to pay her 600,000 coins to recharge a seed into a crystal halberd.
For players who have completed Song of the Elves, an alternative way of making crystal weapons is using a crystal weapon seed and 40 crystal shards along with 78 Smithing and 78 Crafting on a singing bowl in Prifddinas. Players who do not meet the skill requirements can pay a nearby elf to create the weapon for an additional 20 shards. Crystal shards can be used to recharge the weapon to a maximum of 20,000 charges, with each shard providing 100 charges.
However, it is far more cost efficient in the long term to instead use the crystal shards on potions and use the money from selling them to re-enchant your crystal equipment.

Crystal equipment stats no longer become gradually lower as the weapon degrades, converting all imbued crystal halberds into crystal weapon seeds and removing the ability to imbue them through Nightmare Zone. The crystal halberd can now alternatively be made and charged through crystal shards instead of paying Ilfeen. |

The offensive and defensive stats of the unimbued crystal halberd now correctly lower as the weapon degrades. |

Hotfix
The crystal halberd special attack was limited to three targets in PvP, to prevent unintentionally high experience rates.[2] |
[[{{#explode:7 June 2018| |0}} {{#explode:7 June 2018| |1}}]] [[{{#explode:7 June 2018| |2}}]] (update) |
The crystal halberd's special attack used to only hit the main target on the central tile, but hit an unlimited amount of monsters on the two adjacent tiles. Now, it caps the maximum number of monsters to 10, but allows monsters standing on the same tile as the primary target to also be affected by the attack. |

The "uncharge" option on the crystal halberd now properly removes the weapon's imbue. Previously, it would result in the message "Nothing interesting happens". |

The combat interface no longer shows unarmed option for the crystal halberd, and attacking an opponent no longer shows the message "Unrecognised ranged weapon". |
Trivia
- It is one of the few pieces of equipment that requires three different skill levels to wield (Agility, Attack, Strength), as well as having several skill requirements, including level 100 combat, to obtain from the Hard Western Provinces Diary.
- The crystal halberd replaced a previous item, also named Crystal halberd.
