The quest point cape is a cape of accomplishment that can be obtained by players who have completed all quests (excluding miniquests). The cape, along with the quest point hood, can be purchased from the Wise Old Man in Draynor Village for 99,000 coins. To trim the cape, players must complete all achievement diaries, thus earning them the achievement diary cape as well.

Should a new quest be released, the cape will be unequipped, and the player will not be able to equip or operate it until the new quest is completed. If the player's inventory is full, the cape will be banked instead. In the event that their inventory and bank are both full, the cape will be lost, and will have to be re-purchased from the Wise Old Man.

The cape is a popular goal for ironmen due to its quick teleport to a fairy ring. Additionally, performing the quest cape emote in the Wise Old Man's house is also an elite task in the Lumbridge & Draynor Diary. The emote can also be used at the top of Falador Castle for a task in the elite Falador Diary.

Unlike skill hiscores, there is no official way to track the number of players who currently own the cape; it must be shared by Jagex. In February 2020, there were 61,766 current members who had obtained the quest point cape.[1]

This item can be stored in the cape rack of a costume room, as part of the quest point cape set, along with the hood. Ultimate Ironmen will be unable to retrieve individual pieces until the full set is stored.

Cape benefits

In addition to the defensive stats above, the cape can teleport players to the Legends' Guild gates an unlimited number of times. This is especially convenient as it is the second closest available teleport to a fairy ring after the POH. Additionally, players with the maximum number of quest points will find that the prices of dreams in the Nightmare Zone are reduced by 10,000 coins. The cape does not have to be worn to achieve this effect.

Minimum skill levels

The minimum levels required to acquire the quest point cape are:

Four skills, Woodcutting, Cooking, Fishing, and Mining allow for a temporary boost to be used to reach that level. While players need these levels to acquire the cape, they do not need them in order to wear it. The lowest level needed to complete all quests using boosts in these 4 skills is shown without (parentheses).

Although Mining and Woodcutting can be boosted to the highest quest-required level, level 70 unboosted is required in both skills for Song of the Elves. Likewise, although Fishing can be boosted to the highest quest-required level, level 60 unboosted is required for The Fremennik Exiles. Level 65 Cooking is the minimum requirement needed when using a boost for Recipe for Disaster, which is the quest with the highest cooking requirement regardless of boost.

The shown combat stats only get a player to a combat level of 71, while Dream Mentor requires a combat level of 85. Completion of While Guthix Sleeps requires the player to enter the Warrior's Guild, requiring a combined Attack and Strength level of at least 130, or level 99 in either skill, while the shown stats only add up to 110. The absolute minimum total level (with maximum boosts and 85 combat) required to complete all quests is 1516.

Ironmen may need higher levels in some skills due to item requirements: for example, magic logs are required for Desert Treasure I and Mourning's End Part I, and although they can be obtained in numerous ways, each has a high skill requirement or is nonviable for most lower-levelled players. Another example is if players burn the raw karambwan in Tai Bwo Wannai Trio, they will need 65 Fishing to be able to fish another.

Comparison to RuneScape's master quest cape

Both the trimmed quest cape and RuneScape's master quest cape were released in 2015. While the trimmed version requires the achievement diaries, it requires no additional quests, including miniquests. This is in contrast to the RuneScape master quest cape, which requires completion of all quests and miniquests, obtaining all post-quest rewards, finding most lore-related books, and several other requirements.

Completing all quests and diaries in Old School will also require completion of multiple miniquests, but there are several miniquests which can be incomplete for players to trim and equip the trimmed cape. These are Into the Tombs, Hopespear's Will, The Frozen Door, Daddy's Home, In Search of Knowledge, Mage Arena II, Family Pest, The Enchanted Key, and Bear Your Soul.

Trivia

  • The quest point cape is required to complete the Lumbridge & Draynor Elite diary, which makes the trimmed version unobtainable without first obtaining the untrimmed version. This is the only cape of accomplishment in the game where this is the case.
  • If you have completed the achievement diaries, you can trim (and untrim) the quest point cape even if you no longer meet the requirements to wear it.
  • The quest point cape was first offered to be "trimmable" in Old School feature poll 10: New Rewards, where it was proposed that players would be able to trim the cape upon completion of an Endurance dream in the Nightmare Zone minigame.
    • Completing a normal Endurance dream would have trimmed the cape light blue, increased the Defence bonuses from +9 to +11, and gave the cape a +2 Prayer bonus. This proposal only gained 74% support, and thus did not pass.
    • Completing a hard Endurance dream would have trimmed the cape as well, giving it +1 in all Attack bonuses in addition to the blue-trimmed cape's bonuses. Players would have had a choice of trim colours for this version of the cape, and it would have identical bonuses to a fire cape, excluding the fire cape's Strength bonus. This proposal only gained 73% support.
