A steam battlestaff is a steam elemental staff which provides unlimited amounts of water and fire runes as well as the autocast option when equipped. It requires 30 Attack and 30 Magic to wield.

The mystic steam staff is an even stronger alternative, providing better melee and magic stat bonuses. It is obtained by taking the steam battlestaff and 40,000 to Thormac. (Reduced to 30,000 or 20,000 with completion of the hard and elite Kandarin diaries respectively.)

The staff is only obtainable as a potential drop from K'ril Tsutsaroth.

Players can use a steam staff upgrade kit, obtained from Justine's stuff for the Last Shopper Standing, to cosmetically enhance their steam battlestaff, creating a steam battlestaff (or). This only alters its appearance, and becomes untradeable. It can be reverted, but the kit will not be retained.

• The steam battlestaff is one of four unique boss drops that are not dropped by the respective bodyguards (excluding hilts and pets), the others being staff of the dead, Saradomin's light, and Armadyl crossbow.
