The alchemist's amulet is an item purchased from the Mixology Rewards shop with 6,900 Mox resin, 5,650 Aga resin, and 7,400 Lye resin, which are earned from participating in the Mastering Mixology minigame. While the amulet is equipped, there is a 15% chance the player will create a potion with an extra dose when brewing potions (but with no extra experience), which consumes one charge. This effect does work when adding secondaries to 1 and 2-dose potions such as Anti-Venom and Stamina Potions.

When first purchased, the amulet is pre-charged with 50 uses. Additional charges can be added by using amulets of chemistry on it - with each giving 10 charges - up to a maximum of 5,000. On average, each amulet added will last for ~67 potions made.

When the player uncharges the amulet, it returns amulets of chemistry in noted form, equal to the number of charges divided by 10 (rounded down).

Mechanics

The alchemist's amulet provides no benefit when making potions that always output 4 doses, including antidote+, antidote++, anti-venom+, super combat potion, and super antifire. The amulet will not trigger when creating Guthix rest tea; the player will always create a 3 dose cup.

When used with potions that create a variable number of doses, the amulet will only trigger if the input potion is less than 4 doses. These potions include stamina potion, forgotten brew, extended antifire, extended super antifire, anti-venom, extended anti-venom+, and all of the divine potions. When used with 3-dose potions, the amulet will extend 60 doses into 63 doses, providing an average 5% increase in yield and taking 33% longer to make. For 2-dose potions, the amulet will extend 40 doses into 43 doses, providing an average 7.5% increase in yield and take 100% longer to make. For single dose potions, the amulet will extend 20 doses into 23 doses, providing an average 15% increase in yield and taking 300% longer to make. This takes much more time, but can be useful extending supplies when acquiring ingredients takes a significant amount of time (such as on Ironmen accounts, or maximising profit from crystal dust).

Profit

Since each amulet of chemistry adds ten charges, whereas the amulet of chemistry itself only has 5 charges, the cost per charge of using the Alchemist's amulet is effectively half that of the amulet of chemistry. When using the amulet for solely profit, it should only be used when a single dose of the potion you make has a value of more than 1/10th of the requisite amulet of chemistry's worth (92.3 coins).
