The optimal quest guide lists Old School RuneScape quests in an order that allows new Members to progress in a way that minimises the amount of skill training to completion of all the quests. This guide does not show the most efficient quest order. It does not take into consideration unlockable content, such as fairy rings or dragon equipment, that provides numerous benefits to the player's game progression. For that, it is recommended that players complete the quests in the notable quest unlocks section as soon as possible.

Guide

Experience lamps or books of knowledge received through random events or Achievement Diaries may be used on any skill of the player's choosing or to save time by shortening the next bit of training in this guide.

Players with 50 Construction should take advantage of their player-owned house for access to a portal chamber, teak altar, and mounted glory. Teleport to house (tablet) may also be used for emergency teleport. New players on a budget should use a ring of dueling to access the bank and restore stats at Ferox Enclave's pool of refreshment.

Completing Achievement Diaries will be beneficial throughout the game; some of the rewards include access to unlimited teleports, noted item drops, antique lamps, shortcuts, and additional Lunar spells. Similarly, some miniquests may provide useful rewards, such as experience lamps, and may be required to complete other quests.

Notable quest unlocks

The quests below list some of the more notable unlockable content, teleportation methods, equipment, and locations. The quests below are not listed in any specific order.

Quests

A note on usage (particularly relevant for new players): the "New levels after quest" column shows the levels the player will have if they follow this guide exactly. However, players may find it beneficial to train up Agility (for faster run regeneration and eventually the graceful outfit) and one's combat stats (especially Prayer for protection prayers) separately to make completing some quests easier. This is not strictly necessary, though, as stamina potions and energy potions can also be used to restore run energy, and many quest bosses can be flinched or safespotted, thereby circumventing the need for strong stats and gear.

Hover over a skill reward in the "New levels after quest" column to see the exact total experience in the listed skill after completing the quest.
