Araxxor is the boss version of araxytes found within the Morytania Spider Cave, requiring level 92 Slayer and access to Morytania to kill. As a Slayer boss, he may only be killed while on a spider or araxyte Slayer task. Konar quo Maten can also assign Araxxor specifically when she assigns a boss task.

Araxxor's lair is accessible from the Morytania Spider Cave, with the cave itself being accessible via an entrance north-east of Darkmeyer. The lair can be entered via a web tunnel just north-west of the cave entrance.
A scoreboard by the web tunnel shows statistics related to Araxxor.
Fight overview
As with all araxytes, Araxxor's attacks can inflict venom. He spawns in the middle of his chamber and attacks with melee; if out of his melee range, he will close the distance and attack with either magic or ranged - whichever of the player's defence bonuses is lower. Aranea boots can be worn to protect the player from his ranged attack once every 8 ticks, or every other attack. The boots do not protect the player from his mage attack.
Around Araxxor's lair, there are nine eggs; three each of red, white, and green. The first egg hatches after three standard attacks from Araxxor, hatching clockwise starting from the south-easternmost egg, with subsequent eggs hatching after every six standard attacks. Both the eggs and the araxytes count as on-task monsters for the purposes of benefiting from the slayer helmet's damage bonus, but will not reduce the player's task kill count.
Every six standard attacks, Araxxor will use one of three special attacks, which can be determined by identifying the south-easternmost egg. All of these attacks leave acid pools, which inflict venom and deal increasingly larger damage (starting from 4) the longer the player stays on them.
Upon reaching 25% of his health, Araxxor will enter an enrage phase, increasing his Defence level by 35 as well as his attack speed from 6 to 4. He will replace his melee attack with a cleave attack for the remainder of the fight, which will deal melee damage in a 1x3 area while leaving acid pools on the ground. Like with his ranged attack, aranea boots will also negate damage from the cleave every 8 ticks.

Drops
Drop rates estimated based on 859,630 samples from the Drop Rate Project, unless otherwise cited.
Creating the Noxious halberd and Amulet of rancour (subtracting the cost of Amulet of torture required in creation) result in an additional average of 159,680.94 per kill.
When Araxxor dies, players can either choose to harvest or destroy the corpse; he will not respawn until the player makes their choice.
- Choosing the "Harvest" option rolls the drop table as normal, with excess loot dropped to the ground.
- Choosing the "Destroy" option will roll for the pet Nid at double the drop rate, but will forfeit the potential loot that comes with harvesting. Elite clue scrolls will still be rolled, however.
- When selecting "Destroy", players are asked to confirm whether they really wish to destroy their regular loot for a 1/1,500 chance at receiving Nid instead of 1/3,000. Players can disable this prompt by selecting "Yes, and don't ask again."

Historical
Araxxor is a boss in RuneScape that was released on 28 July 2014, slightly over ten years from the variant released on 28 August 2024. However, the Old School RuneScape version is not a backport, and instead features a fight unique from the RuneScape counterpart:
- Araxxor in RuneScape consists of four phases, and is a high-level boss with no Slayer requirement. In the last phase, he is eaten by his mate, Araxxi, who gives the drops at the end of the encounter.
- Araxxor can also be fought in a solo or duo encounter in RuneScape, whereas the Old School variant is solo-only and can only be killed as part of an araxyte or spider slayer task. The RuneScape variant also utilises an enrage system that resets daily.
- Much fewer spiders partake in the overall fight; in RuneScape, up to five different types of araxytes could support Araxxor (up to 20 when the top path was open, barring the egg drops which could spawn 2-3 if not intercepted) while in Old School RuneScape, only three types do so.
- While both variants have a mirrorback, their mechanics are uniquely different:
- In RuneScape, the Mirrorback spider reflects all damage to the player which also scales with enrage. Attacking the spider also reflected 50% of the damage it would have taken to Araxxor. It is also unaggressive. In Old School RuneScape, the Mirrorback Araxyte instead reduces the damage Araxxor takes by 20%, taking that amount as damage to itself and reflecting 50% of that absorbed damage back to the player. If the player attacked it with melee, it would reflect 50% of the damage it took back to them unless countered with Vengeance.
- While both variants have a mirrorback, their mechanics are uniquely different:
- Araxxor acts much like Araxxi does in RuneScape terms of loot, with the player searching his corpse for rewards. This also includes a pet drop, though Araxxor's pet, Nid, has a static 1/3000 or 1/1500 if the player chooses to destroy his body, with no chance to see the loot. In RuneScape, the first araxyte pet has a drop rate of 1/1000 to 1/500, depending on the enrage accumulated during the fight. Similarly to Old School, gambling the drops increased the drop rate by 50%, though the player would have to roll a 0 in order to obtain the pet drop. They are also given a chance to see their loot before deciding to gamble it.
- Araxxor in Old School RuneScape is primarily a melee-based encounter. In RuneScape, the player can determine Araxxor's primary combat style with an araxyte pheromone or an instance, which also changes his weakness values, which in turn impacts the "hilt" drops.
- In RuneScape, this would result in Araxxor being mage, ranged or melee dominant. Both the magic and ranged forms could also use melee, though not as often compared to the primary style. In Old School, Araxxor only uses melee and magic, the latter when his target is not in melee range.
- As Soul Split was usable by players when Araxxor was released in RuneScape, he could also mimic its effects. In Old School, as it is not available for use, he does not have this feature.
- Araxxor can only inflict poison in RuneScape (only in its ranged form), as venom does not exist.
- The rewards are also different:
- In RuneScape, Araxxi drops parts of a spider leg (determined by the path selected in phase 1), which can be combined with a "hilt" piece (fang, eye, or web) to create noxious weaponry, powerful two-handed tier 90 weapons. Additionally, it drops a unique kind of arrow. In Old School RuneScape, only the noxious halberd can be created, though it is still made from three separate pieces to create.
- An araxyte fang is also dropped, used to convert the amulet of torture to an amulet of rancour with 86 Crafting. There are no amulet upgrades in the RuneScape variant.
- An araxyte head is also a potential drop to recolour the slayer helmet into an Araxyte slayer helmet with 1,000 slayer points. This does not exist in RuneScape.
Trivia
- Unlike other jar-dropping bosses, Araxxor's jar drop, the jar of venom, is untradeable. This is because the Old School Team considered boss jars overall to be in a position of being a rare "flex" cosmetic that can be traded between players, and wished to try having the jar of venom be more exclusive.[3]
- Unlike other bosses with speed-based Combat Achievements, Araxxor's speed-based Combat Achievements are based on a set amount of kills in a set amount of time, rather than one kill only. This is due to player disdain over other speed-based Combat Achievements that required best-in-slot gear, and in the case of most bosses (such as Whisperer Speed-Runner and Vorkath Speed-Runner, some of the most notorious speed-runner achievements) additionally required extremely good luck in the hopes that the player's attacks would hit high.
